Week 30: The Year in Rave—1993

I've done a few of these rave / jungle /happy hardcore tapes already, and here is another. I should've probably called it "the year in UK rave", because there aren't any non-British tracks on here. For those unfamiliar with the whole story arc, 1993 was the year that UK rave really developed into what we would recognize as jungle and happy hardcore. I'm really into stuff from this transitional era, when those two genres existed side-by-side, before they really split from each other. Here's a tape of my fave tunes.

  2. Ok, first of all let me give you major props for such a great idea. I am a bit late finding out about this, but lo and behold I see an old skool techno tape @ week 30 and I'm in. I used to DJ this stuff back in the day and still have a lot classics on vinyl that I play around with from time to time. Dling this mix as I type... track list looks sweet!

  3. 1993 was a special year, so many tunes i love, never get tired of, i soake them in like a sponge each and every time. in germany, always a few years behind, the sound was big till 1995ish and got played on lot second floors for long time after that. Even today oldskool parties/floors get a decent attendance.
if i had a time machine the only place and time i would go would be southern england in that year, in 95 i would go back to 1993. party from thursday to monday and making sport bets, i'd always win, on tuesdays and wednesdays. :D
